Basic Facts about Fire Sealing Penetrations in NSW

Whether it’s your office or home, you need to be sure that the building has proper precautions against fire. Hence, most of the buildings are nowadays taking necessary steps for fire sealing penetrations. These methods can be used on the ceilings, walls, slabs or even the floor, where fire resisting compartments are created so that the fire does not spread in the structure of the building. These penetration methods use a wide range of fire resistant products to get maximum possible safety from fire.

Different system of fire sealing penetrations in NSW

In NSW, different fire sealing penetration works according to the systems mentioned below:

•    Applying non-shrink mortar in the pipe and cable penetrations. These mortars are fire rated and hence stop fire from spreading.

•    Fire rated foams can be used around the pipes. Mortar can’t be used here as pipes expand and contract. Hence, foam is more useful in these areas.

•    Mineral wools can be applied on walls as fire protective measure and stop fire penetration. Mainly fire rated pillows are used as a measure for fire protection.

•    As fire sealing penetration boards made of vermiculite, Intumescent collars Rockwool etc. can be used.
