Ducting vent can let fire and smoke escape from one room to another. Fire dampers NSW is ducting fittings that stop the fires and smoke from passing through.
Hard-Wired Vs Programmable
There are a few different alternatives for fire dampers; hard-wired and programmable.
1. Hard-wired fire damping solutions would work on its own, without a command received from a sensor.
2. Programmable fire damping solutions could be operated from a distance and are fully automated.
In a fire incident, power lines often get shut down, and we require to operate the fire dampers mechanically.
How do they work?
With Fusible Link
Fire dampers NSW that operates without the requirement for circuits and sensor relies on a fusible link. This fusible link will meltdown from the temperature (at about 72°C), caused by the fire, and it involves the fire damper, closing its doors for good.
With Slotted Metal Plates
Designs of fire damper made out of slotted metal plates are available. Their slots shut when the metal expands from the heat, sealing the ductwork while the heat doesn’t plummet.
Control System
Fire dampers NSW, with circuits, can be engaged and disengaged via a control station. Alternatively, they can be programmed to engage in varying situations. For example, one can wire their fire dampers to the smoke detectors. In this way, it would alert the fire/smoke damper to close if a smoke detector turns on. It has to be applied, as stated before, in systems where there is a backup power supply; or, in a system with a power bank in it.
